The Dating Pool
I have decided, at the ripe old age of 25, to enter the dating "pool", that is, as of now I am actively seeking a life partner. I guess you could say I'm "wading" for a mate. Aha aha. Of course I've seen a lot of people "drown", but I am certain it is better to be hurt in a relationship than to never have one at all. Hmmm... I'm not sure how far I can carry this pool metaphor. Anyways, I never quite been able to understand the process; there's a whole lot of things I can do better and I'm afraid anything I try is going to make me feel silly. Any friendly helpful suggestions?

Be yourself!!!!
Don't laugh if I spelled my name wrong.
Aren't you supposed to be working on my business cards?
Hmmm... Do you want us to set you up on a blind date? That would be fun... at least for us.
Seriously, don't be afraid to say "hi". Sometimes, everything starts with a "hi". You just gotta keep at it. Or, call up an old friend.
And the word for today is... blndtizr!
don't listen to her. Get back to work!
Buy flowers and a nicer car. After you finish your dad's business cards.
cody jensen emailed me jim. its been almost 4 years & i guess people are around. hey?
women are the rake
You're a little young to be so jaded, aren't you Hink? People say the same things about guys, so I figure if I can try to be an exception to the rule, maybe I can find a girl who is too.
How's Cody doing?
I think my car will do just fine.
Are you kidding me flowers are way not cool any more!
I LOVE flowers! Who says flowers aren't cool? I don't know a girl who wouldn't love to get flowers from a guy.
Wait a second!!!!!! I just clicked on "the cooler babe" to see what whack would say that, and MY blog site came up! Who is impersonating me, and how do you do that?
Is it you, Ben? Or is it Nathan? I'm sure it's one of those Teal boys!
try clicking on it when your not logged on.
That cooler babe wants to be all of us. Somebody out there thinks we're all way cool.
Pay attention, notice the little things, and don't talk about yourself too much. Be a gentleman, say hello, open doors, and smile. Oh, and don't leave her standing (or sitting) there alone wondering what to do.
If you don't mind some advice from a complete stranger... :o)
1. don't get hung up on thinking you have to "date". You can get to know girls quite well through group activities.
2. look for qualities that you feel are important for a wife - character is longer lasting than physical beauty.
3. take leadership in communicating. Girls want to know what is going on. I really appreciated the few guys I knew who told me clearly wether they were interested in a relationship with me or not. I felt very uncomfortable with men who wanted to spend a lot of time with me but did not clarify their intentions.
4. don't be in a rush. Take your time to choose well. Trust God to guide what comes from your pursuit.
Good suggestions... Jim, don't be in a rush just 'cause you're 25. And don't let that "hot babe" persuade you that flowers aren't cool. The first time I got some from Adam, it was so unexpected and made me so happy. It still makes me smile. And then there was the time that he left some in my car for me while I was working. That was very sweet, although they were nearly dead when I finally got to them :(
Oh, and flowers are for after a relationship has been established... like you're actually going out. At least I think.
And how about after your married too! After Uncle Dave and I were already married we got into an argument one night, and when I came home from work the next day he had cleaned our apartment and there was a single red rose in a vase on the table. It was AWESOME!
Thanks for your advice, Tracy. I don't mind advice from a stranger, because often it is more objective than a friend's.
I liked Tracy's advice. Trust the Lord, Jim. I will pray for you. I know there's a girl out there for you!
